Paron Fabrics has moved!

Note: Paron has since closed.

And guess what? The store setup is pretty much exactly the same, but MUCH brighter and CLEANER! I think the prices have crept a bit higher since the move, but it is hard to compare with the constantly changing inventory.
Brightly lit, immaculate... sounds like song lyrics, no?</>
I thought this was pretty fabulous, but didn't buy, since I don't want to be the next home featured on "hoarders". I've got to sew what I've got. No, I mean it.Seriously.Paron Fabrics257 West 39th st (bet. 7th 8th ave)New York, NY 10018

  1. I was in there last week and I agree! But did you know that Living Social is running a coupon for them?

    Here's the link:

and it has one day remaining.

  2. LOL. I haven't been in yet. On my next trip in. Do they still have the annex?

    1. I've been there a couple times since the move, and there didn't seem to be a separate room or storefront for the discount fabrics. They do have lots of 50% off bolts, they're just mixed in with the full-priced bolts as of the last time I was there a little over a week ago.

    2. Yes, it looks like there is significantly less being offered at bargain prices. But, with the price of rent in that area, I'm not surprised!

  3. Thanks for the update. Sorry they don't have all the "sale" fabric grouped together any more. Maybe if they get enough requests?

I always appreciate the way their fabric is tagged, though. Nice to know content & country & price at a glance, without fishing for a tag or wondering.

They've been generous with their idea of a yard, too, and once gave me the rest left on the bolt at no charge. Then they threw in a back issue of Threads magazine that they were getting rid of!

  4. Hi, sorry to comment off-topic, but I'm not sure how to send a message to you privately. Two things: I work down the street from Lace Star, and I've noticed that it is in the process of moving too (the new address is listed on a big sign in the window). Not sure whether it is having a moving sale, but I hope the move is an improvement, and not a sign that the store is financially struggling. :(

Also: the Around the World bookstore by Bryant Park is closing soon, but will continue its smaller store on 148 W. 37th St. The owner saw other local businesses shuttering and moving away, and he read the writing on the wall. The smaller store still carries the pattern magazines: Burda, Burda Easy, La Mia Boutique.

    1. Yep, Lace Star's website says they are moving to 270 W. 38th St., 3rd Floor, and that they'll have more info about a grand opening later.

Now I have to go look up what else is at or near that address!

  6. I literally LOL about the next home on hoarders comment! My husband keeps predicting that for me and my fabric!!! He said after they film the show he's gone. I'm trying to be good but the struggle is real!!!

    1. Oh, the struggle is very real. I have come a long way since then, but I have to really think about these things now... I've only got two hands, and so many hours in a day!
