Psssst... the Garment District "Speakeasy" tour
I'm doing a one-day only, "best-kept-secret" garment district shopping trip on Friday, September 28. Friday is the chosen day of the week because all garment district businesses will be open. You can still even catch a Broadway show or museum exhibit while you're here! Space is limited. Too big of a crowd is no fun. Registration requires advance payment.
This is a rain or shine event!

Itinerary below:
10AM - 2PM - Shopping (Will include several very special fabric stores with a wide variety of offerings suitable for many different purposes/types of garments.)
2PM-3PM - Lunch (included in your fee)
3PM - 5PM armed with your "Secret Map", you may visit more garment district stores if you wish, and give unique codes (that you'll get from me) to vendors who will give special assistance/discounts.
The cost of this guided tour is $75 per person. If you use this trip to shop and participate in what NYC has to offer, you will save at least as much as you are paying, and probably far more.

The trip will involve a good amount of walking, so come prepared, and healthy.

I have heard from a few of you now, and the main question has been hotel advice. To give you an idea, I know of a place that is a 50 minute subway ride outside of Manhattan for $130 plus tax per night at the end of September. I also know of a Manhattan double occupancy near the garment district for for $289, or another place with 4 twin beds for $299 per night. All are safe and clean. You can go fancier and pricier, of course, but you probably don't need my help for that.
Mimi - Please do this again...and again. I can't make it this September but sure would love to come the next time you offer the same itinerary. I'm lucky in that I can hop on a flight from Chicago to NYC in the morning and fly home late evening for a little more than $100 RT. No need for a hotel!
oooh... that is wonderful! I don't know if this will become a regular thing or not, but I do know I can show the garment district in a way that is pretty unique, because of the relationships I have, and secrets I've unearthed over time... We'll miss you!
So exciting Mimi. I am working on getting my travel partner on board with me. I can get a bus for $11 and make it a day trip. Are the spots filling up fast?
There is a great deal of enthusiasm! I have gotten more "maybes" than can actually come (if they all decide they want to come, some are sure to be disappointed), and a solid number of "definites" (with payment). When I went to the DG trade show in Feb. we stayed at the Hotel Pennsylvania. It was quite reasonable. It is an old hotel, but I was quite happy with it. And it is very central to everything.
