Hey, Lindsay T Sews readers, I'm so glad you're here! "Shop the Garment District" is where you'll now find all my Garment District reviews, news and tips. (I'll keep blabbing away about the clothes I make and the other things in my life at Lindsay T Sews.)
"Shop the Garment District" is brand-new and evolving—I'm not even sure I know what I want it to be—but I'd love your input on what I can do to make this site a return destination for those of us who love the stores and services of NYC's Garment District. In fact, I'm looking for contributors, so if you're a Garment District regular (or even semi-regular) and would like to share news and tips or write posts, do let me know. I want this site to have more takes on things than just mine.
I'd love it if you help me spread the word about "Shop the Garment District"; feel free to copy and paste the STGD button on Lindsay T Sews. And check back soon or add this to your RSS feed, as I plan on having a giveaway soon of a not-readily-available dressmaking notion or two. Stay tuned!

thanks for doing this. I visit the garment district everytime I am in NYC and am just envious of people who have access to it very day.
ReplyDeletePlease save for visitors like us who love it!
Just wanted to comment quickly and say that I'm thrilled you're starting this blog! I've enjoyed reading Lindsay T Sews for a while now, and I'm adding this one to my RSS feed, too. I'm moving to NYC in a couple months and plan on using this page as a resource for where to go for my fabric fixes! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI was in the NYC garment district exactly a week ago and used your guide many times. I enjoyed shopping and spending with your help! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThis is cool! And thanks for organizing and posting your NYC fabric store reviews over here too. Very organized!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
ReplyDeleteWonderful...I do plan on taking the train down to NYC at some point in the future and I've always wanted to wander the Garment District but not knowing where to go is a drawback when contemplating a visit. I look forward to reading more information on this area...
ReplyDeleteThis is so awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThis site of yours makes me want to take the next plane to New York - I just can't believe my eyes!

Oh, how I wish I'd had this blog when I lived on East 80th. I floundered around all lonely and lost, trying to sort out the mythical Garment District on my own. Good luck with your new blog, which I suspect will be a "port of call" for not only New Yorkers, but visiting "sewists" from all over the world.
ReplyDeleteBut daaahhhling, please don't stop sewing! Especially our jackets!
One of these days I'll actually make it to NYC and when I do, I'll have all your great info on the garment district to take with me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for starting this, as I also will one day make it to NYC and when I do this is the first place I will be heading to get all the great info.
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. I have bought things over the phone from stores I found on your blog. I am looking for those large pieces of transfer paper. If you seem them in your travels could you post somewhere? Love the graphics on the button and the header of your blog. Did you make them? The photographs look very nice.
ReplyDeleteRobin, you can buy transfer paper at SIL Thread and probably Steinlauf & Stoller too. A store across from FIT--Fashion Design Books--also carries them.
ReplyDeleteYou rock, Lindsay T!!
ReplyDeleteI rely on your informative posts when I go to the garment district. In my opinion, you have provided much needed help to the garment district through your blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for this site. I spent a year at F.I.T. many moons ago and I still get a thrill when I go there to browse the store and all the supplies.
ReplyDeleteYour new site will be a great source for all of us and also bring attention to the ever shrinking garment district.Thank you for all your effort and for spreading the word. :O)
Good luck with the site. I am sure it will be really useful to a lot of people.
ReplyDeleteGreat!! My son and DIL just moved to NYC so I'll get to visit more often!! First trip is coming up the first week in December.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I only wish we had a site like this for the Los Angeles Fabric distict which is vast and overwhelming.
ReplyDeleteI hope to be able to visit NYC sometime soon so I can experience these shops.
I've followed your blog for some time and have enjoyed your writing and review of shops in the garment district. When I'm in the city my time is limited and your reviews have always been helpful in selecting the shops I would visit on that day. Thanks for starting this blog. SAVE THE FASHION DISTRICT Elizabeth
